Where Curiosity Becomes Creative Discovery
Every artwork begins long before it is exhibited. This ongoing research explores the hidden creative potential of reclaimed materials through observation, experimentation, testing, and sustainable innovation.
Research is at the heart of my creative practice. Rather than viewing discarded materials simply as waste, I approach them as resources waiting to reveal new textures, structures, colours, and possibilities. Each experiment expands my understanding of how everyday objects can be transformed into meaningful works of art and design.
Current Material Research
Glass
Exploring decorative applications, surface treatments, and sculptural possibilities using reclaimed bottles.
Plastic Packaging
Investigating colour, transparency, layering, weaving, and textural applications.
Aluminium
Testing cutting, shaping, embossing, and structural construction techniques.
Paper & Cardboard
Developing lightweight structures, surface relief, and mixed-media compositions.
Natural Elements
Combining shells, eggshells, seeds, and organic textures with reclaimed materials.
Mixed Assemblage
Exploring how unrelated materials can create unified visual narratives.
Every Material Has Something To Teach
Working with reclaimed materials requires patience, adaptability, and curiosity. Unlike traditional art supplies, each discarded object arrives with its own history, limitations, and possibilities.
Rather than forcing materials into predetermined ideas, I allow experimentation to guide the creative process. Unexpected textures, forms, and combinations often become the starting point for entirely new artworks or collections.
Research is not separate from making—it is woven into every stage of my practice.
Areas of Investigation
Material Collection
Studying the availability, characteristics, and environmental impact of reclaimed resources.
Technique Development
Creating new methods for cutting, joining, shaping, painting, and finishing materials.
Surface Exploration
Investigating colour, texture, reflection, transparency, and layering.
Creative Documentation
Recording discoveries, failures, sketches, and evolving ideas.
Materials Currently Being Explored
A Living Laboratory For Sustainable Creativity
This research is ongoing and continues to evolve alongside my artistic practice. Every new material, every unexpected discovery, and every creative experiment contributes to future artworks, educational programmes, public installations, and collaborative projects.
My goal is to build an evolving body of knowledge that demonstrates how sustainable creativity can inspire innovation, reduce waste, and encourage new ways of thinking about the materials that surround us.
Let’s Explore New Possibilities Together
I welcome opportunities to collaborate with artists, researchers, universities, museums, designers, environmental organisations, scientists, residency programmes, and cultural institutions interested in material innovation, creative sustainability, and interdisciplinary research.
Through collaboration, experimentation, and shared knowledge, we can continue discovering new creative futures for reclaimed materials.
