Hello, I’m Jane Emmanuel
I am a Nigerian artist, creative maker, and sustainability advocate working under the creative identity of The Craft Thriller.
My practice explores the intersection of creativity and sustainability, using recycled and reclaimed materials as a foundation for artistic expression, craft, fashion, and experimental making.
What begins as an overlooked object—a bottle, fabric scrap, paper fragment, metal piece, or discarded material—often becomes the starting point of a new story. Through transformation and imagination, these materials are given another opportunity to create meaning.
Through The Craft Thriller, I aim to encourage a culture where sustainability becomes a natural part of creativity, proving that even the smallest reclaimed material can contribute to something beautiful, functional, and inspiring.
How Ideas Become Creations
Every work begins with curiosity. Whether creating an artwork, craft piece, fashion experiment, or recycled design, the process is guided by exploration, transformation, and purpose.
Observe
Inspiration often begins in everyday life. I pay attention to overlooked objects, discarded materials, natural forms, personal experiences, and social narratives that may spark a creative idea.
Reimagine
Materials are examined beyond their original function. A plastic bottle, fabric offcut, metal fragment, or paper scrap becomes an opportunity to explore new possibilities, meanings, and forms.
Experiment
Through sketching, assembling, layering, cutting, reconstructing, and testing different approaches, ideas begin to take shape. This stage often reveals unexpected discoveries that influence the final work.
Transform
Reclaimed materials are transformed into artworks, handcrafted objects, fashion pieces, or creative expressions that communicate a story, idea, or emotion.
